In the past 1 week we have heard about 2 big natural disasters.
1. 7.6 magnitude earthquake damaged scores of properties in Indonesia's Sumatra province and caused panic when it hit Wednesday, September 30. Indonesia is still recovering from a 7.3 magnitude earthquake that struck West Java province killing some 100 people on September 2.

The health fair where Pravin Mody (GBS Linens ) was the main sponsor for the third year of this fair was well organized with many volunteers and medical professionals. Dr Nitin Shah did a wonderful job of taking lead, along with Siva Subramanyam and many other community services leaders.
Pravin Mody said they expected around 1000 people to get the benefit from the free service and diagnosis for their conditions.
ACC, City of Anaheim and several other organizations are included in announcing his Annual Health Fair. ACC does not incur any net costs to its accounts for this Health Fair as the Fair is financially supported by Pravin Mody( GBS Linens) and other donors. Pravin Mody indicated that the fair was expected to cost around $15,000 for out of pocket costs and money was donated by various sponsor to cover all of these costs with GBS providing at least 51% of the total costs.
ACC thanks Pravin Mody, Nitin Shah and others ( Medical professionals, volunteers, donors , the city of Anaheim, Harry Sidhu and many others) for their contributions for this large Health Fair that provides a very useful community service free of charge. Our sincere thanks and appreciation to all of these people for providing their services and financial resources for this excellent community service.
Earlier this year, ACC and Jain Center (JCSC) organized a health fair at the Jain Center facilities where around 400 people received free service from many physicians and volunteers. ACC provided the necessary out of pocket costs of around $6,000 for this Health Fair. This health fair was organized under the guidance and leadership of Nitin Shah and Ramesh Kothari of ACC.
Last month ACC also organized a seminar on Depression which was attended by several hundred people. Ila Mehta and Manibhai Mehta were the leaders for this conference. Dr, Pranav Shah ( Psychiatrist) provided the leadership for the seminar presentations and discussions. There were many other volunteers and medical professional who provided their assistance for making the seminar successful.

Jai Jinendra
In late August 2008, one of our community members (Nalini Mukundray Shah) passed away after her family's valiant efforts and support during her fight with cancer. She was 61 years of age. Nalini's family (Mukundray G. Shah, Maluni & Bijal Shah, Sheetal & Tarang Shah) has decided to help others from this dreadful disease by setting up Nalini Shah Cancer Fund. The primary objective of the fund is cancer education, early detection and prevention. Nalini's family has pledged $10,000 to start the fund.
ACC would set up a separate tracking of Nalini Shah Cancer Fund and use it for cancer education, early detection, prevention through healthy lifestyle, and support for cancer patients. ACC will establish cancer committee comprising of donor representatives and medical experts to guide various cancer projects.
For further information or questions, please contact any ACC board member. We thank you for your support.

Nishat Khan: Undeniably the foremost virtuoso of the sitar, Nishat khan transcends all musical barriers with his provocative emotional expression and supreme technical mastery. Heir to the 400-year old tradition of India's most renowned musical family, Khan flawlessly integrates the discipline and technique of his ancestors with his own distinctive musical approach. In modern contexts Nishat Khan's virtuosity has been compared to such luminaries as "Jimi Hendrix" (Chicago Times) and "Bach" (Washington Times) because of the ingenious, very personal interpretation of his musical heritage. He has conquered not only the North Indian classical idiom but also realms as diverse as Gregorian chant, Western classical music, abstract jazz, and Flamenco. His unique cosmopolitan insight has led to collaborations with the world's leading performers and composers such as John McLaughlin, Philip Glass, Paco DeLucia, and others.
In the concert, Nishat Khan will be accompanied by accomplished Tabla player and other percussionists on other instruments that will mesmerize the audience.
